Weekend Picks – September 13th

USS Constitution Underway
The USS Constitution will be underway on Friday, leaving the Charlestown Navy Yard at 10 am and heading to Castle Island’s Fort Independence for a 21-Gun-Salute around 11:30 am. Great viewing spots include the Charlestown Navy Yard, the Harbor Walk, and Castle Island! While you’re out there, you might as well grab an early lunch at Pier 6, right?
Explore the Neighborhood: Gardens for Charlestown
Did you know Charlestown has its very own community garden located right at the end of Main Street? What once started as a rubble-strewn lot has turned into 65 unique garden plots cared for by residents of Charlestown! The garden’s mission is to support the quality of life in our neighborhood, engage members of our community, and educate both children and adults. If you want to learn more or join the waitlist for your very own plot, head over to gardensforcharlestown.org for more information! 🌸 Check it out this week!

Kyera Singleton, Executive Director of Royall House and Slave Quarters, a museum in Medford, MA, will moderate the event. This event will take place on Saturday at 2pm at the Charlestown BPL.
Dine outside – while you still can!
The weather this weekend looks like it may be the nicest of the year… so make sure you get outside! Before we know it, we’ll be zipping up winter coats and lacing up our snow boots (if it ever snows again?). Check out our round up of things to do in the Navy Yard, and enjoy our favorite outdoor dining spots before it’s too late! Here are my picks:
- Pier 6 – get the Earth Bowl and a cold glass of Kim K Sauvy B
- Prima – their Garlic Bread is one of the best apps in Boston
- Blackmoor – craft beer lovers, the outdoor patio is your Charlestown Beer Garden
- Monument – the pepperoni pizza with a side salad at Monument may just be my death-row meal
- Urban Wild – gourmet bar food in a vibey outdoor seating area with games and TVs? Say less.
