Thank goodness it’s Friday! Here are our picks for you this weekend:
ART in the PARK
Saturday, September 7th from 10am–5:30pm | ART in the PARK will take place on Saturday at City Square Park. Since 1998, ART in the PARK has consistently attracted talented artists from the New England area, becoming an extremely popular fine art event. The Artists’ Group of Charlestown sponsors this annual event and features local artwork by local artists! Get more details here!
Dine outside – while you still can!
The weather this weekend looks like it may be the nicest of the year… so make sure you get outside! Before we know it, we’ll be zipping up winter coats and lacing up our snow boots (if it ever snows again?). Check out our round up of things to do in the Navy Yard, and enjoy our favorite outdoor dining spots before it’s too late! Here are my picks:
- Pier 6 – get the Earth Bowl and a cold glass of Kim K Sauvy B
- Prima – their Garlic Bread is one of the best apps in Boston
- Blackmoor – craft beer lovers, the outdoor patio is your Charlestown Beer Garden
- Monument – the pepperoni pizza with a side salad at Monument may just be my death-row meal
- Urban Wild – gourmet bar food in a vibey outdoor seating area with games and TVs? Say less.
Go Shopping!
It’s also going to be the perfect weather for walking around town. Go support your local businesses! Stock up on cards and gifts for your upcoming events at Junebug, Monroe, and Place and Gather, style your kids for back-to-school at Mockingbird (and yourself, at Slate), and even make a charm bracelet or necklace at Kaybea!
Kids Party at Henry Bear’s Park
Saturday, September 7th from 11am – 2pm | Head over to Hook Park for a fun-filled day at Charlestown’s beloved toy store, Henry Bear’s Park! Enjoy sing-alongs with Jeff Jam, face painting, giveaways, crafts, donuts, and giveaways! Music starts at 11am.
Gorman Scholarship Cornhole Tournament and Celebration
Saturday, September 7th | Join our community in celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Gorman Scholarship, honoring the lives of Mary Smith and Peggy Sindoris. This Saturday, the annual cornhole tournament begins at 10am at Barry Playground. It’s $50 per player, which includes a t-shirt and admission to the celebration that evening. At 7pm, the event will continue at Knights of Columbus Charlestown. Tickets are $25 dollars, or $200 for a table of 10, and you can expect a fun evening featuring Jay Gates as Rod Stewart and DJ Smokey.
