If you’re like me you may have walked by the new store in Hood Park, Henry Bear’s Park, and thought oh interesting, it looks like a kids store…I don’t have any need to go in there. Well, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Henry Bear’s Park offers so much more than that, and Asia, the most friendly store manager, phrased it perfectly,
“At Henry Bear’s Park, we don’t just sell toys. We sell an experience. We have products that encourage play at any stage of life. From the moment you enter the world until it’s time to leave. Imagination is a superpower, and maintaining it takes practice.”
From Rat A Tat Cat to Monopoly to Legos, it’s filled with something for everyone.
Games, books, toys, seasonal products, and cards are just a few items Henry Bear’s Park offers, but more importantly, Henry Bear’s Park has big plans to become a staple in the community through events – adult and kid-friendly. They recently hosted a puzzle night where they split everyone up into teams, and the goal was to see which team finished the puzzle first. It was a great success, and they’re excited to host their next one soon. When I walked in, it was around Valentine’s Day, and they had a whole table set up to make Valentine’s Day cards. The overwhelmingly friendly staff is great at making anyone who walks through the door comfortable. They’ve even noticed a trend that people who work and live in Hood Park will stop by during a break to see what’s been set up on the back game table for them to take a mental break with – from Legos to cards to puzzles.
The staff is always looking for ways to improve the customer’s experience. I told them a few of my favorite games, and they were quick to offer up a new recommendation, which I cannot wait to play with my friends!
The Senior Store Manager Lynnette mentioned, “Forging new friendships with people in the community and working alongside people who I consider my second family are probably my favorite aspects of working at Henry Bears Park.” They’re in the midst of planning a few upcoming events but would love to hear any of your ideas and how they could
