Charlestown Development News: 18-story tower with a 130-room boutique luxury hotel and 108 apartments back on the table

Big development plans are back on the table in Charlestown.

According to the Boston Business Journal, developers have restarted plans for an 18-story mixed-use tower at Hood Park near Sullivan Square. The proposal includes a 130-room boutique hotel along with 108 apartments on an industrial stretch between Rutherford Avenue and I-93.

The proposed hotel and residential tower would rise at a future address of 25 Supertest St., located off Hood Park Drive. At 18 stories, it would rank among the tallest buildings planned for the industrial corridor near I-93 and the MBTA Orange Line. Other nearby projects in the works include a 19-story mixed-use tower with lab, office, and residential space, plus additional eight- and 12-story office and lab buildings.

The larger Hood Park redevelopment is being spearheaded by Catamount Management Corp. and Trademark Partners. The project joins several major developments currently reshaping the Rutherford Avenue corridor, including Trinity Financial’s 705-unit apartment development near the Community College station and a separate 240-unit residential project planned for 201 Rutherford Ave. by New England Development

The updated filing officially kicks off a new public comment period with the city as the project moves back into the review process.

Parts of the Hood Park redevelopment are already up and running, including The Harvey, a 177-unit apartment building, along with several retail businesses like Urban Wild Boston and Landry’s Bicycles.

The property was once home to the longtime headquarters of Hood Dairy before the company relocated its offices to Lynnfield.
