$50.2 Million Renovation Underway at Historic Charlestown Navy Yard Building

Big changes are coming to the Charlestown Navy Yard.
The National Park Service has officially kicked off a $50.2 million renovation of Building 107, a historic building dating back to 1904.
The building once housed skilled workers who helped maintain and operate the Navy Yard. Now, it will be transformed into a modern headquarters for Boston National Historical Park while preserving its historic character.
The renovation will include updated offices, meeting spaces, and storage for the park’s museum and archival collections. The project will also bring National Park Service employees, currently working in different locations, together under one roof.
Funding comes from the federal Great American Outdoors Act, which supports repairs and improvements at national parks across the country.
The project is expected to be completed in 2028.
You can read more about the renovation in MassLive’s report.
