Boston Sand & Gravel Sues to Block Charlestown Housing

Plans to bring new housing to Charlestown could be hitting a legal roadblock.
According to Banker & Tradesman, Boston Sand & Gravel has filed a lawsuit in Suffolk Superior Court to halt a major residential development near Bunker Hill Community College. The project, led by Trinity Financial and supported by the Wu administration, could bring up to 705 new apartments to the Austin Street parking lots.
In the complaint, Boston Sand & Gravel is seeking an injunction to stop construction unless safety concerns are addressed. The company argues the current design could create hazardous conditions for pedestrians and cyclists crossing an access road into its adjacent 9-acre property, raising concerns about potential injuries.
The new site — made up of underused parking lots associated with Bunker Hill Community College — was identified by the city as one of the most impactful opportunities to create new housing as part of a broader plan to redevelop surplus municipal land.
For now, the lawsuit adds uncertainty to what would be one of the most significant housing proposals in Charlestown.

Let me guess. More “luxury housing” in a city already saturated with it?
The housing crisis in this state is being over blown, , the site is under a highway and a construction company scale it back also what about parking
The address should be Rutherford Avenue not Austin St . Also New England Development has similar plans for the nearby Bunker Hill Mall . Talk about overdevelopment in Charlestown”s one square mile ,
