USS Constitution Underway on Friday
The USS Constitution will be underway on Friday, leaving the Charlestown Navy Yard at 10 am and heading to Castle Island’s Fort Independence for a 21-Gun-Salute around 11:30 am. Great viewing spots include the Charlestown Navy Yard, the Harbor Walk, and Castle Island! While you’re out there, you might as well grab an early lunch at Pier 6, right?
Last Call – Good Company will be closing its doors on Friday
Good Company, the wildly popular craft cocktail bar with longtime local bartender Seth Freidus at the helm, will close its doors on Friday. Opening in November 2023 at Hood Park, it features innovative cocktails using a farm-to-table approach with locally sourced fruits and vegetables, in addition to classics like gin and tonic and a Cuba Libre, plus beer and wine. Stop by after 5:30pm on Friday to wish them well and one last drink.
Free Arts + Crafts for Kids at Peter Looney Park + a Marionette Puppet Show
The Boston Parks and Recreation Department’s annual ParkARTS program is pleased to announce the return of free Arts & Crafts Workshops for children. From West Roxbury to East Boston, kids ages three to ten can enjoy a wide variety of arts and crafts activities led by local artists at the workshops held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. This week, this fun and free event takes place at Peter Looney Park Park on Friday, August 9 & 16. During the arts + crafts workshop, enjoy a free show featuring Rosalita’s Marionette Puppets started at 11am.
Live Music at Training Field with Dennis Taylor
Enjoy live music on Saturday from 4pm-7pm at Training Field with a performance by Charlestown’s own Dennis Taylor featuring soul and disco hits.
Summer Fun in Charlestown
Join the Summer Classic on August 9th, 5 PM – 7 PM at O’Reilly Way basketball court for a basketball and cornhole tournament! Kids aged 16 and under, register here!
Take a Class at MyStryde
MyStryde’s Charlestown studio offer the signature power stryde, and stryde classes. These classes are for all fitness levels, and include treadmill intervals and strength with dumbbells, benches, and resistance bands. They also offer open gym with a 1500 sq ft. tread room features 19 treadmills and 19 benches! Get the details here!
Take a swim
After a two year renovation, the Clougherty pool is now open! The outdoor lap pool and family pool are now open for the summer 2024 season, and the bathhouse and roof terrace will be completed for summer 2025. The Clougherty was originally built in the 1940s, and the new upgrades modernize the facility and make it more accessible. The total project budget is a $35.5 million investment. Listen up, ice cream lovers—and honestly, who doesn’t love ice cream? The state of Massachusetts just launched its new ice cream trail, featuring over 100 spots for locally made ice cream! One spot on the trail is right here in the neighborhood. Get the scoop (see what we did there?) here!
