The City of Boston will host a public meeting on Thursday, August 8th, to discuss a proposed cannabis shop, Charlestown Cannabis, at 31 Cambridge Street. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 545 Medford Street.
There will be an opportunity to raise comments, questions, and concerns.
Back in 2016, Massachusetts voted to legalize marijuana. Charlestown already has one cannabis shop – the Heritage Club – established by Boston native Nike John. This Black and women-owned business has been open since 2019.
What do you think of an additional cannabis shop in the neighborhood? Let us know in the comments below!

To Caught in Charlestown: My name is jack Kelly III. I am the sole owner of Charlestown Cannabis. I am a 4th generation Charlestown resident, I have owned and lived in my home at 257 Main Street in Charlestown for over 10 years. My brother, with his wife and son Quinn are also homeowners in Charlestown. As well as a “ton” of cousins and other extended family members. My mother and father still reside in the community. In addition, to my 96 year old grandmother. I served the community as the neighborhood liaison from 2006-2011. I am proposing a cannabis shop that has significant support throughout all of Charlestown. Our community meeting on the 8th reinforced such sentiment. Here is an article from the Charlestown Patriot-Bridge covering the meeting. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please call or text me. I will be sure to get back with you and answer any and all questions. my phone is 617-669-4657. – Jack Kelly III
