A Boston woman has been named a person of interest in the investigation of a body found on a houseboat in Charlestown over the weekend.
Nora T. Nelson, 24, appeared in Boston Municipal Court on Tuesday after being arrested on three outstanding warrants from 2023. Prosecutors say Nelson was present on Sunday when police discovered a deceased individual aboard a boat at Shipway Place. However, she has not been charged in connection with the death.
Officials are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death and confirm the person’s identity.
Nelson has a history of legal trouble, including previous charges of assault with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60, threats, and property destruction from an incident last September. Prosecutors also revealed she was born in Tennessee and has active warrants in Texas related to a separate case.
Nelson’s bail was set at $7,500. She is due back in court on March 3.
The investigation remains ongoing.
