Monument Square Study Committee: Shaping the Future of Our Historic Heart

Big news for Charlestown! The Monument Square Study Committee has been officially established to address the future of one of our neighborhood’s most iconic and historic areas. With the Bunker Hill Monument at its center, Monument Square is not just a landmark—it’s the heart of Charlestown. On December 11th, the Boston City Council voted to establish a study committee.
The committee will focus on preserving the square’s historic charm while exploring ways to improve accessibility, safety, and functionality for residents and visitors alike. This means a closer look at everything from traffic flow and pedestrian safety to public spaces and how the area connects with the rest of the neighborhood.
Stay tuned for updates and opportunities to get involved—because shaping the future of Charlestown starts right here.
