If you’ve noticed the rumble of machinery and fresh layers of pavement popping up around the neighborhood, it’s not just your imagination—street resurfacing is officially underway in Charlestown.
With the Bunker Hill Day Parade right around the corner, the City of Boston has kicked off essential roadway improvements to get our streets parade-ready. While the upgrades are much needed (hello, smoother roads!), the work has taken many by surprise—especially business owners and residents near Main Street who weren’t given much of a heads-up. Evidently, some businesses had set up their outdoor patios, only to discover that they need to be removed for the resurfacing. Good grief!
Expect lane closures, detours, and limited parking in some areas as the work continues.
