Just when you thought your Thursday commute couldn’t get weirder, sirens, smashed hydrants, and a rogue trash truck made sure it did.

According to NBC10 Boston, 33-year-old Admilson Vizcaino is in critical condition following a chaotic afternoon that spanned several communities and ended in a crash on the Alford Street Bridge between Everett and Boston.

Here’s what went down:

It started in Medford just before 1 p.m., where Vizcaino was reportedly acting erratically at a gas station. Fast forward a few towns, a few crimes, and things only escalated. Police say Vizcaino made his way through Stoneham, Billerica (where he allegedly shoplifted chips, water, and an empty gas can from a 7-Eleven), and Malden, where a family member tipped off police about his whereabouts.

Eventually, he crashed an SUV on Broadway near Encore in Everett. But he wasn’t done.

As traffic backed up and confusion mounted, Vizcaino allegedly attempted to carjack several vehicles before setting his sights on a Republic Services garbage truck stopped at a light. Witnesses say the passenger bailed out as Vizcaino jumped behind the wheel.

And yes, he took off in it.

The joyride didn’t last long, he reportedly hit light poles, sidewalks, and hydrants before police caught up with him on the Alford Street Bridge. Officers tried using a stun gun several times. Shots were eventually fired. Vizcaino was hit and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police say a container of gasoline was found in the SUV he ditched earlier, and surveillance footage shows him at that Billerica 7-Eleven carrying a full tank. Authorities are now trying to piece together whether there was a larger plan for the gasoline, or just a very dangerous and erratic day on the road.

He’s facing a laundry list of charges, including armed carjacking and assault. He’ll be arraigned once his medical condition allows. The Everett police officer who shot him has been placed on administrative leave, per protocol.

Meanwhile, Lower Broadway was shut down for hours, traffic was a nightmare, and anyone near the bridge is probably still trying to explain to their group text what exactly they saw.
