Power Failure and Flooding Reported at Harvard-Kent Elementary School

Boston officials are addressing a power failure and flooding situation at the Harvard-Kent Elementary School in Charlestown ahead of the start of the new school year.

District 1 City Councilor Gabriela Coletta Zapata posted a message on social media, saying her office is aware of the issue and has been in direct contact with Boston Public Schools. According to Coletta Zapata, officials are working to ensure the school is ready to welcome students and families on the first day of school.

Coletta Zapata also said she is working with the BPS Facilities Department to better understand how the incident occurred and what preventive measures can be put in place to prevent it from happening again.

Officials will continue to monitor the situation as the school year begins. Parents and families with questions or concerns can contact BPS at 617-635-8873 or [email protected].
