A $50M Boost Moves Next Phase of Bunker Hill Public Housing Redevelopment Forward in Charlestown

Big changes continue to take shape at the Bunker Hill public housing complex, and a major funding boost is helping move things along. The next phase of the long-awaited redevelopment of the Bunker Hill public housing complex is set to break ground this spring. The City of Boston is contributing $50 million through its Housing Accelerator Fund to help finance the project, marking a significant investment. The project also landed a $122 million construction loan from California private equity firm Cottonwood Group.

This next building will include 266 mixed-income units and rise about nine stories, making it one of the largest housing developments to get underway in Boston in recent years. A portion of the apartments will be set aside for residents using Section 8 vouchers, continuing the effort to create a more inclusive, mixed-income community. Read more about it, here!
