In Everett, Massachusetts, authorities have made an arrest in connection with a tragic hit-and-run incident that occurred near the entrance to the Encore Boston Harbor resort and casino last December.

According to police reports, Jaydon Colon, a 22-year-old resident of Chelsea, has been taken into custody on charges including motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation, among others. The incident occurred in the early hours of December 18th at the intersection of Dexter and Alford streets in Charlestown by the border of Everett. The collision, which resulted in a fatality, happened only a block away from the driveway entrance to Encore Boston Harbor.

The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, tragically lost their life at the scene of the accident.

Edward Fernald, a truck driver who was in the vicinity making a delivery at the time, described encountering the victim lying in the road and immediately rendering assistance. “I went over to check his pulse and see if he was alive,” Fernald recounted.

Following the collision, the vehicle responsible for the hit-and-run fled the scene, heading down Alford Street in the direction of Everett, according to law enforcement officials. Fernald said pieces of the vehicle were left in the street following the crash.
