At about 9:08 PM, on Monday, June 24, 2024, officers assigned to the Anti-Crime Unit of District A-15 (Charlestown) arrested Gabriel Toribio, 27, of Charlestown, on firearm charges.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Medford Street when they observed a motor vehicle operating at a high rate of speed going the wrong way on Polk Street. Officers observed the motor vehicle park in front of a fire hydrant in the area of Medford Street and Polk Street.
Officers positioned their cruiser behind the motor vehicle and observed the occupants exit the vehicle. The occupants attempted to flee the area, and locked the vehicle before the rear passenger could exit which caused the car alarm to activate.
Officers requested the occupants to return to the vehicle to retrieve identification, which they complied. After further investigation, officers conducted a pat frisk of the motor vehicle, and located a firearm inside. The firearm was later determined to be a Glock 26 with one round in the chamber and eleven rounds in the magazine.
Toribio was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device. He is expected to be arraigned in Charlestown District Court.
