Located at 14 Green Street on the 2nd Level of Memorial Hall, Charlestown MovementLab has quickly become a community hub and neighborhood staple for both adults and children alike. It’s a parent and child’s paradise designed to serve the entire Charlestown community with adult fitness and wellness classes as well as martial arts, dance, and gymnastics programming for kids. The programming is diverse, and the schedule is always full of options to move and connect with fellow community members.

I’d be remiss without mentioning the highly frequented and coveted Kids Club, an offering on Tuesday and Friday mornings where toddlers and children (accompanied by an adult) can come and enjoy playing in the large, open-concept room with other children (think a big open playground featuring gymnastics mats, endless toys and puzzles, and even a bouncy house on occasion). One drop-in session costs $15 and there are other packages depending on how often you’d like to go.

What makes Charlestown MovementLab so unique is that it is ever-evolving. Dan Scalia, Managing Director of MovementLab, enthusiastically responds to the community’s feedback and adjusts accordingly to reflect the community’s needs. Dan and his dedicated team are incredibly inviting to everyone who enters MovementLab. Especially in the colder months, MovementLab has been a saving grace for caregivers looking for fun activities to do with Charlestown’s youth when temperatures are too cold to play outside. The atmosphere is welcoming, casual, and fun, and provides a wonderful place for movement and connection for all ages.

With the ever-growing population of Charlestown (especially young children), MovementLab is an affordable asset that allows people to stay within the neighborhood to move and interact. This inclusive hub has a slew of community partners that include Iponn Sports Academy, North End Music & Performing Arts Center, GymnastX, Dr. Jon Kabshura Personal Training, NamaStay Sober, and Fit 2 You mobile personal training.

You can also rent the MovementLab space for community events or birthday parties, which is a huge bonus! There are so many possibilities for the space, and the MovementLab team is continuing to ensure it is offering high-quality programming for all of Charlestown’s residents.
