When Allie Ott became a mother last year, she quickly realized that amidst the joy and
challenges of new parenthood, there was one crucial task that kept slipping down her to-do
list—creating a will and naming a guardian for her daughter. As a former Charlestown resident,
Allie knew she wasn’t alone in this struggle. The mental load of parenting often leaves little time
to focus on what seems like a daunting task: legal estate planning.

After adjusting to life as a first-time mom, Allie, a Suffolk Law graduate with a background in
tech start-ups, recognized a gap that needed to be filled. “Parents—especially new
parents—are so overwhelmed with daily life that the idea of sitting down to create a will can feel
impossible,” she says. “But the reality is, it’s so important to have a plan in place, even if it’s just
a simple one.”

That’s when Trustie was born—a company Allie founded right outside Boston, with a mission to
make it easier for parents to legally protect their children without the stress and expense of
traditional estate planning. Trustie allows parents to designate a guardian for their children
online, without needing to leave their homes or hire an expensive attorney.

“For me, it was about addressing this big anxiety I had after the birth of my daughter. When I
talked to friends and family, I realized how many others were in the same boat,” Allie explains.
Trustie guides users through a simple, step-by-step process. Parents enter basic information,
such as their name, their children’s names, and the chosen guardian’s name. The platform also
offers guidance on factors to consider when selecting a guardian, such as the potential
caregiver’s ability to take on the role, their location, and shared values.

Once completed, Trustie generates a legal document that can be downloaded and printed
immediately – and the company will also send you your documents in the mail.
“Creating a will or a full estate plan can feel overwhelming, but Trustie breaks it down into
manageable steps, starting with guardianship—the most crucial piece,” Allie notes. “It’s a way to
give parents peace of mind without adding more stress to their already busy lives.”

Trustie launched in Massachusetts this spring, and Allie is excited about the strong response
from local families. “We’ve had a lot of interest from Massachusetts parents, which is so
encouraging,” she says. “I’m thrilled to see how it’s resonating.”

Trustie’s journey is just beginning. Allie’s goal is to expand the service nationwide, making it
accessible to families across the country. As Trustie prepares to expand to more states this fall,
Allie remains deeply connected to her roots in Boston.

For Charlestown moms juggling the demands of daily life, Trustie offers a simple, affordable
way to ensure their children’s future is protected. “It’s not about doing everything at once,” Allie
says. “It’s about taking that first step, and Trustie is here to help make it as easy as possible.”

Trustie is available online at mytrustie.com. The service costs $89 and will be
expanding to more states across the U.S. this September.
