5 Things You Should Know This Week – March 9th

Have a great week, Ctown! We want to thank our readers and neighborhood partners for supporting our local journalism efforts!

Spring styles have arrived at our local boutiques

Spring has sprung at Charlestown’s local shops. Slate just announced their Spring Styles will go out on the racks this week and it all looks fabulous – just look at these boots! Shop Place & Gather and Junebug, who have said goodbye to mittens, warm hats, and all things winter. The adorable shops have transitioned to feature woven bags, fun jewelry, silk scarves, ducky decor, and so much more. Kaybea’s Spring and Resort Wear is here, and it’s giving adorable, yet sophisticated. Joy Street has not only awesome baby and kids clothing for this winter-to-spring transition, but also unique styles and patterns for St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and more.

The CMA’s Casino Night Fundraiser is this Saturday

This Saturday, March 14th, from 7-11pm at Knights of Columbus, join the Charlestown Mother’s Association for a Vegas-inspired Casino Night. Play Roulette, Craps, Blackjack, and Texas Hold’em and more. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just playing for fun, there’s a seat at the table for everyone. Get your tickets now! Ticket prices include entry, 2 drink tickets, light bites, and chips to start playing.

This is their one and only fundraiser of the year and every dollar raised goes straight back into the community: supporting fun, meaningful programs and events for Charlestown families. Play your cards right and you could walk away with some seriously great prizes. When the tables close, they’ll turn up the music and end the night with an all-out dance party. All bets and games are for entertainment only. Chips have no cash value.

Can’t make it? You can still support CMA by donating through this link. And keep an eye out for details on the raffles and silent auction—you don’t have to be there to win.

Join Charlestown Women’s Club for their Book Club at Foundation Kitchen

Foundation Kitchen, located at 32 Cambridge St, is excited to be teaming up with the Charlestown Women’s Club their next Book Club! Join the group this Thursday, March 12th, at 7pm as they dive into The Correspondent by Virginia Evans — a story that’s sparked some really thoughtful conversations already.

Whether you’ve finished every page or are still making your way through, attend for the discussion, stay for the community (and maybe a glass of wine 😉). Bring a friend who needs a cozy Thursday night plan!

St. Patrick’s Day celebrations are this weekend!

Taste of Charlestown 2026 date has been announced

It’s that time of year again – Taste of Charlestown is back, Good Shepard School’s largest annual fundraiser! As you may know, the proceeds and support of this event help GSS meet its goals of delivering high-quality education and care, while keeping tuition costs at reasonable rates for all families and still being able to competitively compensate the school’s amazing teachers. Get your tickets now, before it sells out!
What can you look forward to?
There will be delicious samplings from many of Charlestown’s local restaurants, including Blackmoor, Dovetail, Brewer’s Fork, Monument, Waverly, and Prima! Bid on amazing Silent Auction packages including hotel getaways, sporting events, family activities, pampering and more. In addition, families have the chance to participate in a live auction featuring artwork from their children’s classrooms. With music and entertainment provided by Karson Tager of Mix 104.1, local food and drinks and great company, TOC is always such a great night and serves as a reminder of how wonderful this community is. But wait, there’s more! Since the event falls on Derby Day, we’d like to inspire some friendly competition by making this a Kentucky Derby-themed event. Best dressed contests, signature cocktail, Derby watch party, and more to come!
