5 Things You Should Know This Week – July 13th

Have a great week, Ctown! Thank you to our Caught in Charlestown readers and Neighborhood Partners for supporting our local journalism and media efforts!
Sail Boston continues this week in Charlestown and beyond
The Tall Ships have returned to Boston Harbor, and will be here through this Thursday, July 16th. Sail Boston has brought us six days of maritime magic to the waterfront, and it’s been pretty epic so far!
Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a longtime Tall Ships fan, we’ve put together everything you need to know—from where to watch and what to do to where to eat and drink while you’re here. Check out our Guide to Sail Boston for making the most of this epic experience!
See the ships from Pier 6
Pier 6 will open at 9am all week! Located right on the Charlestown Navy Yard waterfront, this neighborhood favorite offers some of the best harbor views around. It’s the perfect spot to watch the ships sail by while enjoying seafood, cocktails, and outdoor dining. Check out the Pier 6 menu here.
Campassion’s Donation Day is this Tuesday outside Whole Foods
Join Charlestown’s local service-based camp for their Donation Drive Day on Tuesday, July 14th from 12-2pm by Whole Foods at the Bunker Hill Mall! Their Session 1 campers are supporting nonprofits that serve the Greater Boston area to address the many different needs of others:
🧼Hope & Comfort: hygiene insecurity
🎂Birthday Wishes: to help homeless children celebrate their birthdays
🌾Harvest on the Vine: food insecurity
This session they’ll also be collecting monetary donations to support another local community partner: The Charlestown Community Closet. The Charlestown Community Closet is a local initiative that provides free clothing, baby items, and housewares to community members in need. If you’d like to donate, please Venmo @charlestowncommunitycares
Natural Glow turns 15!
Happy 15th Birthday, Natural Glow! Join our local spray tan salon on Thursday, July 16th for a chance to win some fun goodies, drink some rosé & celebrate. Appointment or not, go say hi!
Natural Glow joined us in Charlestown last year, and are located right downtown at 1 Church Court – just around the corner from Starbucks on Warren St. They offer single spray tans (ranging from face and neck to full body), package deals, monthly memberships that include 6 spray tans, and even a bridal special! We are impressed by their array of options, and also love that they offer a free face touchup within 1 week of a full or upper body spray tan. How nice is that!

City Council Endorses Effort to Keep Later Last Call and Social Districts Through the Summer
The City Council endorsed a State Senate bill allowing municipalities to opt in to maintain extended last call hours and social districts through the end of August.
Sponsored by senators Barry R. Finegold and Julian Cyr, the bill extends the pilot program allowing for liquor license holders in designated Social Districts to stay open an hour later through July 31. Council President Liz Breadon said the bill would “keep the fun going” and create more opportunities during Boston’s busiest month for tourism.
“Given the struggles the hospitality industry has faced post-COVID with inflation and labor shortages, allowing Boston to continue with this pilot program and create more opportunities for our small businesses is a no-brainer,” she said.
