There’s a new, much bigger, donation fridge at Harvest on Vine

As many of you know, Harvest on Vine supports the Charlestown community in so many ways. One of their efforts includes food collection and bi-weekly distribution, running one of Boston’s most wonderfully organized food pantries. And they just got a larger fridge that fits 50% more fresh produce! So, here is your reminder to consider purchasing a little extra food in your next trip to the store, and bringing it down to 46 Winthrop St, Charlestown, MA 02129. Two murals went up in Charlestown over the weekend – one has since been removed

First off – check out this beautiful new mural in the Brewer’s Fork patio!

But there was another mural that went up over the weekend, however it was “unauthorized.” It appeared in James J. Kelly Jr. Square and sparked discussion in Charlestown. The wall-sized artwork, which featured a Palestinian flag alongside an Irish tricolor, appeared overnight near Bunker Hill Mall. Following community backlash, the mural was painted over and removed within 24 hours, per orders from the property owner. It’s unclear who created the mural.

Boston Lyric Opera: Street Stage is coming to the Charlestown Navy Yard on Saturday

This Saturday, August 15th at 3:30pm, join Boston Lyric Opera at the historic Charlestown Navy Yard for a memorable afternoon of music, maritime history, and stunning Boston Harbor views. From the lawn of the 1805 Commandant’s house, BLO’s musicians will perform an open-air concert of fan-favorite opera and musical theater repertoire, all in sight of U.S.S. Constitution and U.S.S.Cassin Young. Experience songs from across centuries as we celebrate the founding of the Charlestown Navy Yard, with special events happening throughout the weekend.

This program is free and recommended for audiences of all ages. Playbills with texts and English translations of the multilingual program will be provided on site. This is a free event! (Rain Date: August 16, 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm)
