If you’ve ever wondered about the story behind your Charlestown home, here’s your chance to dig a little deeper.
The Charlestown Preservation Society is teaming up with the Charlestown Branch of the Boston Public Library to host an informative workshop on Thursday, April 23rd from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. focused on how to research the history of your house.
The session will walk attendees through simple, accessible methods for uncovering details like when a home was built, who may have lived there, and how the property has changed over time. Participants will also learn where to find records and resources that help piece everything together.
In addition to the presentation, there will be a hands-on, collaborative component where neighbors can share what they’ve found, get feedback from preservation volunteers, and learn how to turn their notes into a meaningful architectural description.
The workshop is a good fit for anyone looking to build on existing research, apply for a Bronze House Marker, or simply connect with others interested in Charlestown’s history.
Attendees will leave with practical tools—and maybe a few new discoveries—about the place they call home.
