Slate Charlestown to Close After Seven Years in the Neighborhood
After more than seven years in Charlestown, Slate is closing its neighborhood shop.
Owner Lizzy announced the closure on social media, sharing that the building housing the store was unexpectedly sold earlier this summer. According to Lizzy, the new owner does not plan to keep Slate in the space.
After learning about the sale, the Slate team spent the summer exploring options to remain in Charlestown, but ultimately was unable to find a way to stay.
Slate opened its Charlestown location seven years ago after Lizzy and her friend Ellie completely renovated the corner storefront. Since then, the shop has become a familiar neighborhood business, selling women’s clothing and accessories and hosting events including its popular monthly book club.
A closing sale will be announced soon.
